The Poppy Oriental Oriental Blend Papaver orientale will be the most dramatic flower in your garden when its large 4 to 8 inch crepe paper-like flowers appear. The Spruce Oriental Picea orientalis is a slow-growing spruce reaching 60 feet after 60 years. It has a dense narrow columnar habit and pendulous branches. Oriental Spruce is a tall symmetrical tree with attractive pinkish gray bark that cracks and exfoliates when mature. Its needles are glossy dark green with stomatic lines on both sides. It wont need any pruning so let it grow into its natural graceful shape. Oriental Spruce tolerates poor gravelly soil but needs protection from harsh winds. In extreme cold it can develop brown tip burn. It prefers full sun to partial shade and is a lovely specimen tree for smaller properties.
